Visa Requirements

An invitation to reside in Russia will be extended to international students who pass a competitive exam for a position at a university. Work permit visas are available for professionals from other nations, but these are not offered to international students.

Documents required for a student visa:

  • Authoritative invitation to Russia.
  • Authoritative directive for visa application.
  • Firsthand recommendation from respective organisation.
  • Negative report on HIV.
  • Original passport, which is valid for a year and a half.
  • Application form acquired from visa.kdmid.ru
  • A light-background coloured 3.5 x 4.5 cm photograph.

Steps recommended for visa preparation and filing:

Visitors from a visa-free country can enter Russia by providing proof of having a passport. Students can obtain student visas from a visa centre or the Russian embassy. Single and double entries are available on student visas. The study contract will specify the length of time for which the extension will be allowed.

Student Visa with Dependants:

Within the family reunion laws, the student visa allows students to settle with relatives in Russia.

Joining relatives in Russia with a temporary residence permit:

Temporary foreign residents in Russia can also apply for private, business, humanitarian, labour and study visas. This will allow them to bring their dependents with them. These visas do, however, have a rigorous expiration date.

Documents required for special private visa case:

A written statement from a Russian medical facility stating that the applicant's relative (entrant's family member) is to receive emergency care, treatment, visitation or a death certificate.
