Education System

Cyprus is a quickly growing international student destination. It provides all its students with a top-notch education at an affordable price in world-class student facilities. The nation has tried to boost financing for an interest in research at higher education institutions. It gives students outstanding academic facilities, including access to cultural, social, and sporting events, as well as internationally recognised degrees.

Choice of higher educational institutes:

Cyprus has a comprehensive system of secondary and higher education. International students make up at least one-third of the 25,000 students that attend universities in Cyprus.

Public and private institutions and several private tertiary-level colleges are all part of the higher education system. They have a comprehensive selection of academic programmes, including business, medical, computer technology, and tourism management.

Types of qualifications awarded:

The various certifications given to students studying in the nation include:

  • Certificate of one-year post-secondary studies
  • Certificate of two years of post-secondary studies
  • Higher Education Diploma
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Postgraduate Diploma
  • Master's degree
  • Doctoral Degree

Types of Degrees

Bachelor's degrees, often known as undergraduate degrees, are earned in four years and are usually taught in English. The Master's degree and the Doctoral degree are postgraduate degrees. Master's degrees can be pursued full- or part-time and typically last two years. Admission to these programmes requires a four-year bachelor's degree. On the other hand, doctoral programmes can last up to three years and consist of a dissertation and a teaching component.

Fee Range in Local Currency

International students pay different tuition rates depending on the type of institution and the courses they are enrolled in. The annual tuition ranges from €3000 to €13000 for undergraduate degrees. With the exception of medical courses, which are expensive at €10,000 to €22,000 per year, postgraduate degree programmes vary from €5000 to €10,000 per year.

Employment opportunities after completion of degree:

International students are required to depart the country after receiving their degree within 60 days. Conversely, those who have obtained a job contract are eligible for a work permit to re-enter Cyprus. The company launches this work visa in the country by delivering an invitation letter to the desired employee and meeting the legal prerequisites for inviting the foreign worker under Cypriot legislation. The applicant can then submit the required paperwork for approval and apply for a work permit at the Cyprus Embassy in their place of residence. Once they have been granted a work permit, they can apply for a temporary residence permit.
