The University of Hertfordshire is a public university that is located in Hertfordshire, England. Known for its gold ranking rated by the TEF for 2018, it offers courses on Psychology, Mathematics, Law, Engineering, Economics, and Health. The University is the UK’s leading university for business, being a great sample in this sector. 

The University originated as a technical college focusing on educating aerospace engineers. During the 1920s, the land where the college was located was sold to a farmer who later sold it to the chairman of the de Havilland Aircraft Company. In 1944, about 90 acres of the land was donated for educational intentions. By 1952, the college, which was then referred to as the Hatfield Technical College, had about 33 full-time teachers and 66 part-time teachers appointed to it. In 1958, it named Hatfield College of Technology and introduced diploma courses in technology within the next two years. The following years led to the establishment of a computer science degree. In 1965, the Council National Academic Awards recognized the college for its 13 honors degree courses. Before the 70s, it became known as Hatfield Polytechnic that had engineering courses. The college got its corporate status in 1989 and its university status in 1992 by the British government and was finally renamed the University of Hertfordshire.

Student Services:

The University offers part-time jobs in retail as well as professional lines on the campus and outside the campus in the local areas. Students are expected to work only 15 hours a week during their academic sessions so that work will not distract them during their studies.

Accommodation:

Students who are planning to stay on-campus can expect a great time of excitement and making new friends. The facilities offered in the University will also be available for these students most of the time. Each hall of residence can accommodate 12 students. These halls are flats that come in several styles like single bedrooms, double bedrooms, with some rooms having an attached personal bathroom and some a shared bathroom, and a shared kitchen with a personal cupboard to store food.

Medical Services:

The medical center of the University of Hertfordshire will cater for the medical attention of 7,000 students and staff. The medical staff, who are experienced experts with specialized skills serve not only the students but the local community as well.

Library Services:

Students will find the two Learning Resources Centres to be very beneficial for their academics as they have both library and computer facilities.
