Sheffield Hallam University is located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire in England. It is ranked 11th as UK’s largest and most progressive university. The Sheffield School of Design was first established in 1843 after which its name was changed to Sheffield School of Art. In 1996, the College started to admit both men and women and they renamed it the Sheffield City College of Education. The College played a major role during World War one as part of the 3rd Northern Base Hospital which supported 65,000 wounded soldiers. The University has a lot of history behind it and the most significant was in 1950 when many students, after the establishment of the Sheffield College of Technology divided their time between their academics and working at the local steelworks helped rebuild Britain after the devastation caused by the war.

In 1969, Sheffield Polytechnic was established and 1985 was a year where Sheffield began training nurses and is now the largest provider of nursing and midwifery education in the UK. Sheffield Hallam University has gone through a remarkable history and it continues to grow. Today it is an institute of excellence in all fields science, art, technology, engineering, and maths. The University is diverse but still committed to ensuring equality, inclusion, and supportiveness which are its key values.

The University is based on two sites, the City Campus, located in the city center, and the Collegiate Crescent Campus located two miles away in the Broomhall Estate off Ecclesall Road in South West England.

The University is made up of three colleges. 

  1. College of Business, Technology, and Engineering.
  2. College of Social Sciences and Arts.
  3. College of Health, Wellbeing, and Life Sciences.
