About

Massey University was founded in 1927 in New Zealand. It has three campuses located in Palmerston North, Albany, and Wellington. The University undertakes research-led training and research training on all three campuses.

Massey University is divided into five colleges:

  • College of Creative Arts
  • College of Health
  • College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • College of Sciences
  • Massey Business School

Massey University has strong connections and links with various industries and trades making it easier for students to conduct research and find employment after graduation. The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a number of fields. Aviation, Fashion And Textile Designing, Biological Sciences, Defence and Security, Language and Linguistics, Psychology and Engineering Students are also given the opportunity to fully complete their degrees online.

Services offered include planning a student’s career, applying for job vacancies, and connecting with employers.

Career options and advice are provided based on the student’s educational background, skills, interests, values, and preferences. MyHub is the University’s online job vacancies board where students can find both full-time and part-time job listings that they can apply for. Career events are held by the University throughout the year so that employers and students can connect. Besides this, students can also get advice on planning and choosing their study program from the academic advisers available on campus. Even after leaving the University, graduates will still have access to the Massey Career Centre and MyHub.

According to the Graduate Employability Ranking, Massey University ranked between 301-500 in 2020. The graduate employability rate of the University is 92.6% which is very impressive.

Student Services

Massey University has three campuses that offer world-class education and state-of-the-art facilities to its students. Besides academic and career guidance, students services are also provided to cater to international students. The services available include a radio station, student magazine, political and cultural events, banking facilities and an English language support centre on campus. The University’s science and engineering departments have multi-million dollar labs and excellent teaching staff and facilities.

Accommodation

A number of accommodation options are available for Massey students. They can choose to live in a hall of residence, apartment or studio unit, with a family or homestay accommodation. All three campuses have catered and self-catered accommodations which students can opt for based on their preferences.

Medical Services

Massey University has on-campus Student Healthcare that provides various medical services to its students and staff. The services include consultations with doctors, health advice, injury management and laboratory tests. Nurses are also available to provide students with healthcare advice and medical aid. Counselling services are also available to help students with any problems that might be affecting their mental wellbeing.

Library Services

The University provides many print and electronic books, journals and research material to meet the academic and research needs of students. Libraries are located on all three University campuses.

Sports Facilities

All three campuses of Massey University have Sports and Recreation Centres. The Auckland Recreation Centre is open to all students and staff of the University as well as the public. The Wellington Gym and Sports Centre offer yoga, gym and social sports services. Three sports leagues are held in the Wellington campus- Volleyball, Netball and Futsal.

Clubs and Societies

Each campus of Massey University has its own Student Association including one for distance students. The Student Association leads and represents all the students ensuring that they make the most of their university experience. Across the three campuses, there are more than 200 clubs and interest groups that are run by students. By joining these clubs and groups they get the chance to connect with other students and enjoy their time in the university. Students can join any of these clubs based on their personal choice and interests.
