Eastern Institute of Technology

The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is a tertiary education provider in New Zealand that was established in 1974. It was originally founded as the Hawke’s Bay Community College which was later changed to Hawke’s Bay Polytechnic in 1987. It was only in 1996 that it adopted its current name. EIT has campuses in Hawke Bay, Auckland, and Gisborne.

The Institute is recognised by both the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and New Zealand’s Ministry of Education (MOE). It offers more than 150 qualifications ranging from diploma and certificate courses to undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. Eastern Institute of Technology is a category one institute that has received remarkable ratings from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) External Evaluation and Review (EER).

It has two faculties:

1. The Faculty of Education, Humanities and Health Sciences
2. The Faculty of Commerce and Technology

The Institute is a popular choice for students with over 10,000 students enrolled in 2020. Presently there are over 400 international students coming from over 40 countries around the world. EIT has various support services designed for international students as well as a diverse and inclusive learning environment. Students will be taught by lecturers who have experienced industry professionals and they can also gain useful experience using the state-of-the-art technology and facilities offered by the Institute.

• The Eastern Institute of Technology offers more than 130 academic programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students can pursue degrees in Agriculture, Wine-making, Business, Fashion, Health Sciences, and many more.
• EIT offers various support services to students in order to help them in their studies and also their futures. Guidance is provided to help students choose the right subjects as well as careers.
• The main campus of the Institute is located in the Hawke’s Bay region however, it also has satellite campuses in Auckland and Gisborne. Apart from these EIT also has several learning centers located around the city.
• The study programs taught at EIT have a balance of practice and theory which provides students with the right knowledge, qualifications, skills, and industry experience.
• The teachers and staff are well-qualified and dedicated to providing support and guidance to students. Small class sizes help them provide individualised attention to each student.

Eastern Institute of Technology has a team of career counselors dedicated to providing support and guidance to help prepare students for their careers, explore different career opportunities, and choose the right study options. Student Services

The Eastern Institute of Technology is very inclusive and diverse and provides an excellent learning environment for students. The campus has well-maintained buildings, parking areas, recreational spaces, and many such features that contribute to the well-being of its students. The Institution also offers excellent academic facilities like smart classrooms, lecture rooms, libraries, and practical rooms. Library Services

EIT has libraries that provide relevant research and study materials and resources for students, staff, and community members. Medical Facilities

EIT has a health center that is available to provide medical and health services to students and staff. They have access to doctor and nurse consultations as well as free counseling sessions. It provides an environment that gives them the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential.

Student’s Association

“Younited” is the student association of EIT that acts as the voice of the entire student body. It advocates student issues and promotes the social, cultural, recreational, and educational interests of all students on campus and online. Younited organizes a number of events throughout the year for the different cultures, age groups, and interests in the student body.
