Types of Medical courses
Now that there is some basic information of what a medical course is about and what it deals with, here are a few specializations that students can pursue further depending on the type of degree. Students seeking medical courses have a wide variety of fields to choose from, amongst them Medical and Surgery. Medical is the practice of non- operative medicine, whereas, Surgery is the practice of operative medicine. There are various sub-specialization in both these areas. Mentioned below are the different levels :
It is a professional degree with a duration of 3-5.5 years. Candidates must have completed (10+2) education from a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as main subjects and secured a minimum aggregate marks of 50% in these subjects combined together. Students must also have attained 17 years of age at the time of admissions.
It is a postgraduate degree course and the duration may vary from 2 to 3 years depending on the college. Candidates must have completed their secondary or (10+2) level of education with subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The basic requirement is MBBS from a recognized College or University.
It is a 3 to 5 years degree course in which students strengthen their skills in conducting various researches in their respective fields. Candidates must hold a post-graduation degree in Medicine or MS/ MD degree with a minimum aggregate marks of 55% and above from a recognized University.
Diploma/ Postgraduate Diploma :
These courses range from a duration of 1 – 2 years depending on the specialization. Due to financial constraints that students may face, this course provides the opportunity in securing themselves a fair opportunity in getting employment in the respective field of study.
Diploma: Candidates must have completed (10+ 2) level of education from a recognised University with at least a minimum aggregate of 50% .
Postgraduate diploma: Candidates must have completed theirUndergraduate Examination from a recognized University with a minimum aggregate of 55%.
Bachelor’s degree: The average fee for this programme ranges upto 10 Lakhs
MD: The average fee for this programme ranges from approximately 42,000 – 12 Lakhs per annum.
Doctorate: The average fee for this course ranges from approximately 30,000 - 2 Lakhs.
Diploma : The average fee for this programme ranges from approximately 20,000 to 3 Lakhs per annum.

Medical courses cover all aspects of patient care and research.
